“The workshop provided me with the time to reflect and look at what actions I can take for myself.”

The Regional Partnership Team recently commissioned Insight, an award-winning business psychology and leadership consultancy who have worked with over 100 public, private and not-for-profit organisations. Insight delivered a Compassion Fatigue and Secondary Trauma Workshop to support the well-being and resilience of social workers across Gwent.

Social workers play a major role in supporting vulnerable people through difficult situations, empowering them to address the challenges they face and take control of their lives. The demands of the job mean that social workers are often exposed to social inequalities, complex issues and trauma, which can lead to stress, compassion fatigue and burnout.

“A great course that should be run more often.”

The workshop, delivered in June, was commissioned as a response to these issues and risks. It provided the opportunity for social workers across Gwent to come together, reflect on their experiences, and learn adaptive tools to support their wellbeing and resilience in the future. Participants were also supported to reconnect with the rewards of their work, exploring why they had chosen a career in social work and the positive differences they make to people’s lives.

“The workshop provided me with the time to reflect and look at what actions I can take for myself.”

The workshop also provided the opportunity for social workers across Gwent to come together, reflectively network and  learn from each other. Feedback from those who attended the session was incredibly positive.

“It covered the topic areas well, good pace, I have actions and tips to implement into my practice.”

“Just thanks. A really good course.”
