Housing Support is a Welsh Government funded programme that provides housing related support for people across Wales. The Housing Support Grant (HSG) is a merger of three existing grants; Supporting People Programme, Homelessness Prevention Grant and Rent Smart Wales Enforcement. The grant is an early intervention programme, aiming to prevent people from becoming homeless, stabilise their housing situation or to help those at risk of homelessness to find and keep their home. The grant funds services that help local authorities to support people into the right homes, with the right support to succeed. It can support people to face debts, employment, tenancy management, substance misuse, violence, domestic abuse, sexual violence and mental health issues. Support is focussed on the person and helps to support their wellbeing or helps them to progress towards their goals and maintain sustainable housing. The HSG supports the aim of working together to prevent homelessness and where it cant be prevented, making sure it is rare, quick and not repeated.

Each Local Authority in Gwent has a team dedicated to delivering the Housing Support Grant and supporting people with homelessness.
