The Small Grant Scheme (SGS) is an idea developed by the Gwent Carers Strategic Partnership to support life alongside caring for carers of all ages. The scheme is delivered by the Care Collective. This was introduced to reflect a gap in provision of financial support that was available and to help support carers alongside their caring role, helping carers to ask for financial help under specific categories. We have continued to invest in our Small Grants Scheme (SGS).
The process is for The small grant scheme to continue to be a preventative approach to meet and support carers needs. It is looked at periodically in partnership with the Local Councils to make sure grants remain accessible and fit for purpose.
Outcomes reported include:
- Improved resilience;
- Reduced isolation;
- Improved financial situation;
- More time for themselves/family;
- Improved health and wellbeing and
- Increased confidence
